About

An institution, slowly built.

We summarize the world's most-read non-fiction books in Amharic. Each summary takes about twelve minutes to read or eighteen to listen to. The catalogue grows by a book or two each week, and we expect to be doing this for the rest of our working lives.

If you are a Grade 12 student preparing for the ESSLCE, a young professional in Addis trying to make sense of business or politics, or a teacher looking for a clean way to bring global ideas into the classroom, this site is built for you. The reading is in your language. The framing is from your country.

Why we exist

The world's most-read books are mostly written in English. The ones that get translated rarely make it into Amharic, and when they do, the translation often arrives years late and without the Ethiopian context that makes the ideas land. We are closing that gap, one book at a time.

We are not in a hurry. We would rather publish one careful summary a week for a decade than fill the catalogue with twenty thin ones this month. The horizon is the ten thousand most-read books, eventually, all in Amharic.
